University of Maryland to Honor Its Latino/a Graduates May 17

According to Pew Research Hispanic Center, college enrollment for the Latino/a community was at three percent in 1972. Today, the enrollment has sharply risen to 16.5 percent, which means more and more Latino/a youth are enrolling (and staying) in college. On May 17, University of Maryland at College Park will celebrate its Latino/a graduates with its 9th annual Latino/a Graduation Ceremony on May 17. Over 150 Nominated to Be Recognized in Prize Edition

Over 150 nominees are under final consideration for the 2013 Who’s Who in Prince George’s edition to be published this month. The edition represents the second time Prince George’s Suite Magazine produces an edition that recognizes residents, business and faith leaders who help improve the county’s quality of life. Many around the world learned that Jenny Dolores Rivera Saavedra, 43, better known as Jenni Rivera, died in a plane crash in the early hours of December 9 near Iturbide, Nuevo León, Mexico, following a concert in Monterrey.
