the good things about gorgeous Prince George’s County,” said Prince George’s
County Councilwoman Marilynn Bland (Dist. 9), during the first Suite
Celebration. “I remember when the idea came along for Suite Magazine; it was a
vision, a dream and it has come to realty. When you look in the magazine, the
one thing that stands out is that it’s truly representative of Prince George’s
County.”
During Suite Celebration II, Secret Society, one of the very hottest R & B bands

A Suite Celebration for Magazine's Five-Year Anniversary
(Prince George’s County, MD) –The energy inside of Upper Marlboro’s Old Towne Inn on Saturday
February 27 was effervescent.
Nearly 100 of the county’s dignitaries, entrepreneurs and business leaders gathered for a “Suite Celebration” marking Prince George’s Suite magazine’s five-year anniversary.
During the program, the evening’s host Walter Kirkland led attendees down the Suite’s five-year path, which includes awards from the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Business Owners, and several county image awards. During its five-year journey, the magazine has become the premier magazine for residents, elected officials and entrepreneurs because of its dedication to tell the positive stories about Prince George’s County, Maryland. In addition, subscriptions have increased from 12,000 to 100,000 and now the Suite is available at over 200 newsstands around the region—all reasons for a “Suite Celebration.”
“This is truly a time to celebrate. I’ve lived in Prince George’s county for over 20 years, and when I first came, one of our concerns as citizens and elected officials was that there was not really anything here to represent all the good things about gorgeous Prince George’s County,” said Councilwoman Marilynn Bland (Dist. 9). “I remember when the idea came along for Suite Magazine; it was a vision, a dream and it has come to reality. When you look in the magazine, the one thing that stands out is that it’s truly representative of Prince George’s County.”
During the “Suite Celebration” attendees connected with the magazine’s staff, advisory board and important leaders in the room.
Remi Duyile CEO of Image Consulting Group was one of many entrepreneurs present to celebrate the Suite’s anniversary. “This magazine has reached out to a lot of small businesses that ordinarily couldn’t afford to be featured. They’ve done a beautiful job of promoting us, aligning us and making us bigger than what we are, so I’m here to lend my support and see how we can help to make this magazine a number one publication in the world,” she said.
The ambiance in the room was complete with large, over-sized posters of each of Suite’s powerful covers, ranging from photos of President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama, Washington Redskins Quarterback Jason Campbell, County Executive Jack Johnson and a host of other regional figures.
Prince George’s County Candidate for County Executive Rushern Baker explained the political importance of The Suite. “As County Executive, one of the things that I want to do is show the state of Maryland, and the entire nation what Prince George’s county is like, what we’re about, what our cultural life and economic development life is like,” Baker said. “I think it is the premier magazine of the county. As County Executive, when I travel around, what I want to hand to businesses, whether I’m going to Virginia or Nigeria, is Prince George’s Suite which highlights what we’re doing here.”
As part of its five-year celebration and the recent anniversary edition, the magazine launched “Our Town,” a profile series that aims to enhance community pride and boost economic development within county municipalities. This year, the Suite will also honor the county’s most-influential leaders in the first “Who’s Who of Prince George’s County.”
“The magazine’s contributors, advertisers, writers, and most importantly our readers, make the magazine what it is today. We’re excited about this five-year milestone, but we’re more focused on continuing our important journey to highlight the positive attributes of Prince George’s County,” said Publisher Raoul Dennis.
