Listening to Marvin Gaye's I Heard It Through the Grapevine and the Supremes' Stop In The Name of Love
can take us on a trip to the 1960s memory lane and that's just what happened January 25 at Prince George's Community
College's Motown Showdown, one of many events taking place in celebration of the college's 50th Anniversary.
On hand for the festivities were the college president, Dr. Charlene M. Dukes, various staff members, students, alumni
and friends of the college dancing the night away as The Moonlighters band rocked the house 1960s-style.
Guests were encouraged to come dressed in go-go boots and bell bottoms to win the 1960s best-dressed contest or show
off dance moves that included the Pony or the Watusi for the dance competition. Lou Cashwell, winner of the contest
is twice retired and is now a student in the Construction Management program.

"I'm just trying to keep up with the ladies, exercise and have a good time," Cashwell said.
Brenda Mitchell, Development Office Director and co-chair of the 50th Anniversary Celebration Committee said "the music
and the dancing was a blast from the past. It brought back memories of the good ole days and my childhood."
The Motown Showdown is one of a series of cultural, arts and dance events that Prince George's Community College in Largo,
Md. plans to host throughout the year in celebration of the anniversary. Dance events will highlight each decade and will
culminate in an anniversary gala this fall.
