This summer the university will host the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp from July 6 to 18. The camp is open to all eligible students enrolled in the Prince George’s County School System.
Named after Dr. Bernard Harris, Jr., the first African-American to walk in space, the camp features an all-expense paid, two-week academic residential camp focused on increasing students’ mathematical and science skills and providing an introduction to college life.
Organizers hope the camp will stimulate interest in careers in science and engineering-related fields. During the two-week stay, campers will attend classes that include problem solving, study, research, writing and communication skills incorporated with biology, chemistry, physics, design concepts, and field excursions.
