Even as we see the price of gas top four dollars a gallon and the price of many other things get more expensive, Father’s Day is still a holiday that is devoted to gift giving.

As we approach Dad’s special day, some of us are wondering how to reward our favorite man. There are many options in all price ranges.

The reason for the day is to honor Dad, so you might find that a nice dinner at home, serving his favorite foods, allowing him to relax in his favorite chair, uninterrupted and at peace with a remote control, might take the place of a car ride and then a long wait on a possibly hot and humid Sunday evening at a local restaurant; it won’t cost much more than your patience and time.

If you can’t approach that holiday without a gift box filled with some treasure, then here are a few suggestions.

The old standby gift, the necktie, has been updated by designer Nicole Miller. In time for the holiday, she has released a new collection of neckwear called Carbon Neutral. This new set of designs features motifs related to a greener, more environmentally conscious Dad. The all-silk ties with 30% recycled content retails for $95 each.

For the Dad who loves the finest in time-keeping, there are watches for a range of budgets. Movado has released a new model called the Esperanza with a black (or even newer blue) museum dial, the signature gold dot, and bracelet at a cost of $995. These watches can be purchased through licensed jewelers listed on the Movado.com website.

Dad always has something to carry to work and what better way to carry them than in a new bag or backpack. Australian-based Crumpler has a line of very popular and stylish codura nylon carryalls in a variety of styles and colors. The very hip bags were seen at New York’s recent Tribeca Film Festival, as they were an official item. The bags are available at www.crumplerbags.com.

No matter what you decide upon as a gift for Dad’s day, remember it is the fact that you remember Dad that is most important. Since Dad does great things year ‘round, the least we can do is make his day memorable.
