The Westin is the latest hotel to open its doors at the sprawling National Harbor development that continues to evolve on the banks of the Potomac River.
The 195-room hotel joins the Gaylord National Resort & Conference Center, and the Hampton Inn & Suites, which opened earlier this year. In the coming months other hotel openings are expected from Residence Inn by Marriott and Wyndham Vacation Resorts.

In a recent statement, hotel officials touted the Westin’s prime location for visitors because of its proximity to Alexandria, Arlington and the District. Additionally, guests would have easy access to the Capital, the White House, Washington Monument and the Smithsonian.
“The Westin National Harbor provides a sophisticated and refreshing guest experience in and around our nation’s capitol,” said Sue Brush, senior vice president, Westin Hotels & Resorts. “The sensory-rich environment at The Westin National Harbor is designed to enable personal renewal and send guests home feeling better than when they arrived.”
Hotel officials say guests will be treated to a sensory experience upon entering the Westin that encompasses a “signature white tea scent,” music, botanicals and mood lighting. The hotel rooms feature views of the Potomac, the development’s Harbor Walk, Old Town Alexandria and Washington. Rooms are also equipped with updated technology, flat-screen televisions and spacious work areas.
National Harbor officially opened for business in April, ushering in a new destination spot that features luxury hotels, fine dining, retail, and posh choices for residential living.
The $2 billion project has been described as part of the economic resurgence that has helped put Prince George’s on the map and further raised the county’s profile as one of the nation’s premier addresses.
The 2,000-room Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at National Harbor, which anchors the complex, is considered the largest combined hotel and convention center on the East Coast.
When fully complete in the years ahead National Harbor and the Gaylord National site will feature more than 7 million square feet of mix-used community space, 4,000 hotel rooms, 2,500 residential units and a million square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space.
