Pepco’s Tom Graham honored as child advocate of the year
Many people often say they’re concerned about children, especially those in need, but that’s usually as far as it goes.
But then there are those who standout, like foster or adoptive parents, coaches and teachers who stay after school to mentor young minds and folks in the community who step in to set a wayward youth straight.

And the latest example of the kinds of folks who standout and step up for kids is Pepco Region President Tom Graham, he’s the recipient of the Child Advocate of the Year Award given by the Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children of Prince George’s County.
CASA is a non-profit group dedicated to providing a voice for abused and neglected children. The organization recruits, trains and supervises volunteers who serve as advocates for the more than 3,000 abused and neglected children reported in Prince George’s each year.
The organization reached out to politicians, as well as business and community leaders. Last year, Graham answered the call.
“They are adamant about sharing their mission and efforts to face this issue and I’m honored to be a part of it,” said Graham in a recent statement. He was recognized for his numerous contributions to children in Prince George’s and youth who live in the District.
Additionally, Graham is active in Pepco’s Guiding Light Leadership Program, which provides opportunities for District of Columbia Public School Students the opportunity to be mentored by management-level employees.
Graham accepted the award at a special banquet held in Prince George’s on May 29. The event was attended by citizens and community leaders from across the county, as well as several elected officials, including District Four Congressional Representative nominee Donna Edwards (D), Prince George’s County Council Chairman Sam Dean, and Mayor Eugene Grant from the municipality of Seat Pleasant.
