The Music of Oliver! Set to Enliven Greenbelt Audiences

Audiences have long been delighted by the musical take on the Dickens classic “Oliver Twist,” and if you’re a fan of the genre, or Dickens, or both, then set aside time to catch the upcoming production at the Greenbelt Arts Center next month.

The Tony-award winning musical tells the story of an orphaned boy, who joins a band of pickpockets that try to morph his impressionable innocence into the life of a thief. This family-friendly story boasts a cast of talented youngsters and adults that sing and dance until the curtain drops.

Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm, August 3 to August 25, with Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm on August 12, 19 and 26.

The Greenbelt Art Center operates as a “black box” theater, which allows each viewing experience to differ depending on the creative discretion of the director. Seating may be rearranged for each production.

About 85 people can be seated in the art center depending on the arrangement. All shows are general admission with no assigned seats, so reservations and advance ticket purchases are recommended.

Opening night tickets are half-price for members. For information on membership or ticket sales call 301-441-8770, or point your Web browser to www.greenbeltartscenter.org.
