National Night Out at The Mall at Prince Georges
The Mall at Prince Georges invited the community, the Prince George's County Police Department and several state and county law enforcement agencies to the annual nationwide National Night Out on August 4.
The community was treated to free educational information and activities to raise crime prevention awareness including a whirlwind helicopter landing and a K-9 demonstration. Other activities for people of all ages included basketball and bingo to moon bounce and face-painting. There were crime prevention displays and literature, give-aways, and McGruff the Crime Dog. Police cruisers were on display and members of the Prince George's County Police Department were on hand to discuss, answer questions and offer advice on crime prevention.
"We wanted to create an opportunity for local residents to come together and enjoy a day of entertainment while learning about crime prevention," said Victoria Clark, marketing director at The Mall at Prince Georges. "The Mall at Prince Georges is committed to promoting neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer community."
To make the event more memorable, "Simple Elements" Jazz Band from Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School performed a concert in the Food Court to close out what was a celebration.
