A Masquerade Groove with Campaign Goals

Samuel Stephen Smith was dribbling a basketball before he went to kindergarten. He grew to six feet four inches and went on to play in high school and college.

"Anyone who knows me knows that I always travel in a pack," Baker mused with his guests before the music kicked in. "I go everywhere with my family and tonight is no different." Always present were wife Christa Beverly, daughters, Aja and Quinci. Baker's son, Rushern IV, did not attend. Most notably, however, the 51 year old candidate's mother, Carolyn, and brother, Victor, were on hand.

"When I was a young kid and I got into anything at school, my brother was always right there to help me out of a tough spot," Baker mused. "It's great to have him here."

He quipped that mother Carolyn still finds it fascinating that her son has become a political player. "She never saw this coming," he says.

Guests were dressed in a blend of after six and Halloween seasonal attire. Sexy masked participants donning everything from fishnets to high heels were offset by suited business leaders and political figures. Maryland State Delegates Barbara A. Frush and Tawanna P. Gaines also enjoyed the autumn night out with the Bakers.

"I am grateful to my dynamic finance committee for hosting an event that's different from most political fundraisers in Prince George's County" Baker says. "It's just one example of the variety of ideas that my team will execute during my 2010 campaign."
