Wayne Curry’s Birthday Bash May Signal A Run For Governor’s Office

Wayne Curry celebrates his birthday with 1,000 friends.
It may not have been declared a bid for the governor’s office but it looked a lot like one as Wayne K. Curry, former County Executive of Prince George’s County celebrated his birthday Jan 21 with over 1,000 close friends at Camelot by Martins. Social and political leaders from across the state attended the event including Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Montgomery and Prince George’s. It was a demonstrative expression of Curry’s continued relevance and popularity in spite of not having been in public office in recent years. Media reporters sought an announcement from the veteran public servant as to his intent to run for the state’s highest office but Curry held back.
“It’s up to them,” Curry said nodding toward the throngs of supporters and well wishers surrounding him as to a potential run. “The people will make that determination. I do what I do when they do what they do.”
Curry beamed as he expressed gratitude for the turnout and the massive adoration from the crowd.
“It’s wonderful to know that people remember the contributions that have been made,” he said with a broad smile. But he noted that the massive gathering did send a message.
“People know when they have not gotten what they deserve.”
