County Executive Calls On Residents to Join Seasonal Beautification Efforts

By Angela Alsobrooks // Prince George’s County Executive

Spring is here, and we are off to a great start this year making tremendous progress in our efforts to continue growing our County in a positive way! As many of you know, we are preparing for our biannual community cleanup effort, the spring Growing Green with Pride Day. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, April 27, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Through our collective efforts during our Growing Green with Pride Day last fall, more than 3,600 Prince Georgians volunteered to help beautify our County by picking up litter along our roadways and planting flowers and trees in our neighborhoods. Together, we were able to clean up 24.5 tons of litter and plant 260 trees, 320 shrubs, 2,6000 flowering perennials/ornamental grasses, and 10,000 spring flowering bulbs.

Litter continues to be a problem in our County, and we need the support of all Prince Georgians to keep our County clean and beautiful. That’s why we strongly encourage our residents to get together with friends and neighbors and join us for this day of beautification on Saturday, April 27. To participate in the spring Growing Green with Pride Day, you must register by Friday, April 19. To learn more or to register for the spring Growing Green with Pride Day, visit the Department of Public Works and Transportation’s website here.

As we make headway into spring, We are also proud to share our 2023 Annual Report. Last year, we made significant investments in several key areas, and I want to take this opportunity to thank my leadership team and the entire Prince George’s County Government. We could not have accomplished so much last year without each and every County Government employee. I am so proud of all you do every day to serve our residents.

I also want to sincerely thank Prince Georgians, for placing your trust in me and continuing to partner with this government every day. We cannot do this work alone. Your consistent engagement allows us to continue building a government that is even more responsive, transparent, and accountable. As we enter another year, our Administration remains committed to delivering on the promises we have made since day one. Our work together will continue to ensure Prince George’s County remains the Crown Jewel of Maryland for generations to come.

Yours in service,

Angela Alsobrooks
