Motivational Speaker Cheryl Wood Joins Prince George’s Suite as Brand Ambassador

Recently returned from a trip abroad to spread her message of empowerment and self-development, motivational speaker Cheryl Wood stood center floor at Wegmans at Woodmore Towne Center.

“It’s my story, but my intention is to really empower girls and women in our community,” Wood said of the Prince George’s Suite Magazine cover story being sold at the national store. “I want them to know that you are not defined by your circumstances and your upbringing. The only thing that can define you is what you decide.”

Cheryl Wood, a Prince George’s-based motivational speaker and life coach, joined Prince George’s Suite Magazine & Media as a brand ambassador to help further her message for women’s empowerment. Wood graces the cover of the current issue and sees her story as an opportunity to inspire women and girls to run races they think can’t be won.

The announcement came during a recent reception at Wegmans, where The Suite’s founder, editor, and publisher Raoul Dennis unveiled the magazine’s new image-driven website that sports a fresher, cleaner look. The event was sponsored by entrepreneur and philanthropist Steve Adler.

“We’re moving into another dimension,” Dennis said, noting that the company has transformed from a magazine focused concern to a multimedia platform. “We believe will meet our audience where they are and want to go not just in their entertainment choices but with regard to the things that are important to them in the region. The magazine will focus on trending ideas and people while other platforms will spotlight attractions and entertainment.”

Wood said she was drawn to the Suite because if its focus on community-based journalism that shines a positive spotlight on the people, places, and institutions that make the county a great place to live.

“I’m excited about everything Prince George’s Suite is doing in the community and for the community,” Wood said. “I’m a huge community advocate, that’s one reason I’m excited to be a team member.”

The reception was also held to recognize advertisers and supporters of the county’s premiere lifestyle publications and platforms. Among the guests at the live streamed occasion were County Councilmember Mary Lehman (D-District 1), WSSC General manager and CEO Carla Reid, Bowie State University’s Damita Chambers, photographer and Sisters 4 Sisters founder Peggy Morris, media guru Trevor Otts, Karen McConnell-Jones, owner and business developer of Class Act Productions and Trebor founder Marge Baltimore among many others. Leris Bernard and LGB Productions hosted the livestreaming.

“We are always happy to recognize and spotlight our advertisers and supporters,” says PGS Associate Publisher Maria Lopez Bernstein. “We are turning a corner toward social media and introducing new ways to get their message to our communities. This was a great way to introduce some of those new opportunities to our existing advertisers and to meet new partners over great food.”
