New App Tracks School Bus Progress

On those cold mornings in February, it would be nice to know just when that school bus is coming. This year, parents may be a step closer to that.

Prince George’s County Public School officials are encouraging parents to download a new mobile phone app that will help them learn the location and time of arrival of their child’s school bus.

The app is called “Here Comes the Bus,” and according to Dr. Monica Goldson, the interim CEO of the Prince George’s County Public Schools, this item is very important for students and parents when it comes to getting information and updates regarding the school  bus.

“In today’s technology-driven world, we want to provide parents with more information at their fingertips,”  Goldson said in a statement. “When you’re wondering if your child’s bus made it to school or when the bus will arrive, there’s an app for that.”

The school bus app tracks buses through the Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and provides real-time information. Parents will be able to track multiple buses to find out exactly when children arrive at school or home.

Here’s how to do it:

First, download the Here Comes the Bus app from the App Store or Google Play.

Once in the app, select "Sign Up" and enter PGCPS School Code: 87674.

Create account.

Add student(s) by last name and Student ID.

Customize settings under ‘Notifications’

From desktop computers and mobile devices, log on to herecomesthebus.com.
